假如現在要打電話訂披薩，發現對方那邊音量太小、說話太快，聽不懂他在說什麼，要如何表達，才能讓對方理解你的意思呢？
1、音量篇（volume）
當你發現對方說話太小聲了，你可以說：
1）Could you speak a little louder, please? 你可以說大聲一點嗎？
could表示禮貌（a polite way of speaking），是一種客氣的說法；louder是副詞loud的比較級，表示「更大聲」。
當然，你也可以說：
2）Sorry, what did you say? 對不起，你剛剛說什麼？
did是do的過去式，表示「剛剛」。因為是要求對方重複說過的話，所以要用過去時態。
或是：
3）Please speak up. I can’t hear you very well. 請說大聲一點，我聽不清楚。
speak up表示「音量加大」
2、速度篇（speed）
當你發現對方說話速度太快（speak too fast）時，你可以說：
1）I’m struggling/fighting to understand. Please could you speak slower?我聽不太懂，你能再說慢一點嗎？
struggle，動詞(v.)，表示「掙扎」。 struggle to do sth. 掙扎著做某事，意思就是很費勁啦。
slower是副詞slow的比較級，表示「更慢」。
3、還是聽不懂怎麼辦？要求對方重複一遍（repeat）
1）Sorry, would you mind repeating that, please?
would you mind 是另一種委婉用法，也是表達客氣、禮貌的意思，「你介意……嗎？」
需要注意的是，mind後面接V-ing，即mind doing sth. 介意做某事
4、或者你可以直接和對方說，你聽不懂
1）I’m sorry. I didn’t quite catch that. 不好意思，我不是很明白
not quite表示「沒有很」
catch的原意是「抓」，比如棒球裡面的捕手叫catcher，接到球了叫catch a ball。這裡的 “catch”表示「知道，明白」，就是understand的意思。
5、最後你發現他們只賣素的……
1）Did you say that you only do vegetarian pizzas? 你說你只做素披薩嗎？
vegetarian表示「素食者(n.)」、「素食的(adj.)」，是由蔬菜vegetable變來的。
或
2）You said that you only do vegetarian pizzas. Is that right?
Did you say (that)…? 和You said… Is that right? 這兩種句型表達的都是一個意思，是用於確認對方所說過的話。
